DELIMIDENT did it! It was set to "n", setting it to "y" solved the problem.
I have never used this environment variable before.
My CLIENT_LOCALE is de_de.8859-1, DB_LOCALE is not set on the client.
What is DELIMIDENT necessary anyway? From recent discussions in this group, I
got the impression that it may cause lots of trouble. I checked the SQL
generated by VB (using onstat -g sql), and it looks like this:
UPDATE "vbtest" SET "anzahl"=? WHERE "satznr"=? AND "name"=? AND "anzahl"=?
Who is it that puts the quotes around the table and column names? Is it
VB6 or is it the Informix OLE DB Provider?
Thanks for the help Leopold. From the message ID of your posting, I
conclude that you work for Informix, and from your expertise in the field
of the OLE DB Provider, I guess that you have an active part in the
development of this tool. Maybe then you can explain the reason for this
behavior.
Regards, Richard
