An HDR solution is workable here, although not recommended, if they can run off of one server all the time. You're right, one server is read-only, until a failure, in which case it becomes read/write until the other returns. If the data sets are mutually exclusive, you could also set up two engines on each machine (one local, and one a remote replicate) such that either side is always accessing a local database so long as both machines are up. If one goes down, the replicate is accessed. Now, if you're using Enterprise data replication, then both sites can be read/write simultaneously, but you open yourself up to more potential database inconsistency issues. In any case, any of the above solutions will chew a LOT of bandwidth, so you'd want a channel dedicated to the replication process. I don't believe you need any extra software so long as you're using ODS 7.22 or higher. I don't know enough about OWGS to comment. HTH, - Thomas J.
