We are in the midst of a system conversion from IBM/38 and AS400 platforms to a Unix/Informix 4GL-based system and have run into a possible snag. Since our organization provides relief internationally, we have a need to represent the "foreign" (to us) characters that are found in Spanish, German, and French. By this I mean characters that require additional accents, etc.,. We are presently unaware as to 1) whether this is feasible in our new environ- ment, and 2) if so, how to do it. I imagine this can't be that difficult of a problem, and that we aren't the first people in need of a solution. But, our problem isn't limited to JUST 4GL and Unix. We're also using Uniplex, WordPerfect for Unix, and a Beame & Whiteside terminal emulation package. Not to mention a host of printers and terminal types! Yikes! Can someone in net-land help?? ------------------------------------------------------------ Corinne Bruce Project Leader World Vision U.S. cbruce@wvus.org 919 W.
