I'll probably get smarter as I get to know Oracle better. But it beats me how they ignore the extent and disk layout issue. I come from an Informix world where I'm used to spreading load, planning extent sizes, etc. :-o Dirk Moolman Database and Unix Administrator MXGROUP "People demand freedom of speech as a compensation for the freedom of thought which they seldom use."=20 sending to informix-list =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D The information contained in this message may be privileged and confidential and protected from disclosure. If they can't do it using RMAN from version 9i and on then perhaps they should be reclassified as a vegetable. But why is this stuff in an Informix group? Shouldn't it be in c.d.o.? -- Daniel A.
