update on core dumps w/ 4GL/HPUX 10.20 (from earlier posts)

I posted a question about possible causes of core dumps a few weeks ago, and thanks for the responses, but none seemed to have solved the problem.. This hasn't been our #1 priority, or I'm sure we would have fixed it by now, but here's what I have figured out. One source of core dumps came from a DISPLAY statement where we displayed nulls to screen fields. Even though we initialized the record to NULL during program initialization, I added statements to set character fields to "" and numeric fields to 0 and got rid of them for that instance. In another test, adding some logging before and after the display also seemed to get rid of them (for no apparent reason). Other programs have been core dumping also - ones which run on other similar systems without so many users with no problem. I'm convinced this is an Informix issue.... We did get HP involved as well...they suggested a patch, which was installed at the same time we modified our update statistics (flushing out a major bug in 7.24.UC5) and mysteriously "lost" a few key indexes. In the rush to fix everything once performance went down the toilet, we de-installed the HP patch before discovering the known bug w/ Informix and the lost indexes. Informix's involvement has been disappointing....Of course they wanted a reproducible test case, preferrably in 10 lines or less, and promised to call back the next day. They haven't called back yet, and I don't have privs to call them in our ever-increasingly bureaucratic corporation, and as I said other fires have prevented mgmt from getting this done. They questioned our version control methods, which I have total confidence in, when mgmt cares to follow them (I can only speak with certainty from the application side of things, but I'm reasonably sure nothing has changed w/ the Informix or the os.) Anyway, as you may have guessed, I'm not happy with how my employer is managing things, so I'm really asking out of curiosity if anyone has any ideas on this. Thanks....
