Informix HDR problem
Posted in 1999
Hi,
Im trying to setup replication between two servers absolutely identical
in setup. Theyre both running SCO OSR5.0.5 and Informix 7.30 UC2. The
problem is that when connecting to each other, the initial log exchange
seems to hang... BUT this does not happen all the time, occasionally
the connection succeeds but mostly fails. Originally I thought that
this was a networking problem, but the network is 100% functional. Some
info :
/etc/hosts (identical to both machines) :
127.0.0.1 localhost
172.168.4.206 mediprod mediprod.meditrac.co.za
172.168.4.207 medirepl medirepl.meditrac.co.za
excerpt from /etc/services (identical to both machines) :
mtracptcp 1501/tcp Informix Online tcp service
mtracrtcp 1502/tcp Informix Online tcp service
$INFORMIXDIR/etc/sqlhosts (identical to both machines) :
# Primary
mediponl onipcshm mediprod mtractcp
mediptcp ontlitcp mediprod mtracptcp# Secondary
medironl onipcshm medirepl mtractcp
medirtcp ontlitcp medirepl mtracrtcp
DRAUTO is set to 0, If anyone requests I can send the rest of the
onconfigs. (The dbspaces are identical though)
After restoring the "ontape -s" from the primary with "ontape -p" on
the secondary I issue:
onmode -d primary medirtcp (on the primary) and
onmode -d secondary mediptcp (on the secondary)
The two servers connect and these are extracts from the online.logs :
Primary :
09:39:20 DR: new type = primary, secondary server name = medirtcp
09:39:22 DR: Primary server connected
09:39:22 DR: Receive error
09:39:22 DR: Failure recovery error (2)
09:39:23 DR: Turned off on primary server
09:39:23 Checkpoint Completed: duration was 0 seconds.
09:39:23 DR: Cannot connect to secondary server
09:39:33 DR: Primary server connected
09:39:34 DR: Sending log 22 (current), size 250 pages, 5.20 percentused
Secondary :
09:39:26 DR: new type = secondary, primary server name = mediptcp
09:39:26 Warning: Invalid dbspace 'dbtmp1' listed in DBSPACETEMP.
09:39:26 DR: Trying to connect to primary server ...
09:39:29 DR: Secondary server connected
09:39:30 DR: Failure recovery from disk in progress ...
09:39:32 Logical Recovery Started.
09:39:32 Start Logical Recovery - Start Log 22, End Log ?
09:39:32 Starting Log Position - 22 0x8018
This is where everything (mostly) stops. If it succeeds then the
replication initiates otherwise it just hangs at this point. In the
onstat - output I sometimes get BLOCKED:CKPT or CKPT REQD but this is
not always the case...
Whew, sorry for the long post :) If anyone can help me I would be
EXTREMELY thankful ...
Johan.
