We can't say that one product is bad just because users feel that the response is slow or the server crashes several times. The host where server runs, hardware or operating system configuration, database server configuration, the type of aplications that use database, wether aplication must contact the server through network are several factors that really count. If you say that your server is bad, please describe your system technically so we can better understand why you said so. I have found three system of informix server that worked well enough to satisfy all users. They are Informix SE running on SCO OpenServer, Online on HP/UX, and Workgroup server on Solaris. I think, basically, all RDBMS products are the same. The important thing is to find one that satisfies your specific requirements best (budget, current infrastructure (PC, workstation, mini, OS), level of comfortability, confidence), type of application, etc). > Right now, we're trying to make the decision of scrapping both or just > one. > > Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
