Hi,
we 've installed 4GL development 7.32.UC2 on suse linux 10.1.
i4gl -v 7.32.UC2
gcc --version: 4.1.0(SUSE linux)
compiling a simple program we always get 'unrecognized command line
option "-fwriteable strings"'
we tried some settings of INFORMIXC or C4GLFLAGS with no success.
Is there a known solution for our problem
TIA

I found the following reply from Jonathan Leffler to a past question;
If it is GCC v4.0.x (or later), then the old -fwritable-strings flag that
has been deprecated for yonks has finally been removed, and I4GL has finally
been broken. You would have to revert to (or, better, co-install) a GCC
v3.4.x or earlier version of GCC, and ensure that I4GL uses that and not the
v4.0.x GCC.
There is a newer version of the tools 7.32.UC3 but I don't know if any
have been compiled with GCC 4.x yet. Best suggestion if that is not
available is it down grade GCC (or at least have two versions
installed).
