Re: illegal character error with INSERT statement and &BIND

Probably neither. If this is embedded SQL and if BIND is the table
name, remove the & before the BIND. Also if TAO_GROUP and NOQUOTES are
variable names then they need to be written like so:
INSERT INTO BIND VALUES (:TAO_GROUP, :NOQUOTES);
If this is not embedded SQL and you just want to insert into the table
BIND using dbaccess or some similar client, some literals "TAO_GROUP"
and "NOQUOTES", then the SQL should be written as:
INSERT INTO BIND VALUES("TAO_GROUP", "NOQUOTES");
The placement of the parens are not significant. SQL is a free form
language in that regard.

Subject: illegal character error with INSERT statement and &BIND

Why do I get Informix error [-202] "An illegal character" at pos 00013 in the
following INSERT line:
INSERT INTO &BIND (
TAO_GROUP,NOQUOTES)
Is it because I have an empty space between &BIND and the left parenthesis? Or
I have a carriage return after the left parenthesis? Or both?
Thanks in advance for your reply.
