Speed of writing on NT/SCO

Hi!
I've got two identical machines with different Informix/OS'es
the first is OnLine 7.23/NT,
the second is OnLine 7.20/SCO OpenServer 5.0
Their dbspaces are both located in cookie files.
After creating identical databases and table (~30000 records) I do the
following:
select * from ... ;Both Informix servers cope with statement above approximately equally.
After that I run the series of update/insert operators.
And what I can see is SCO processes the statements ~10 times faster the
NT.
I clearly know SCO to be a more robust than NT, but I can't believe in
SUCH a difference!
And unfortunately I really have to use both NT and SCO!
Any ideas ?
Thanks indeed!!!
Hi Vic,
I probably wont be much help but I went for SCO for just this reason
(I'm surprised the difference is as much as that). I have 7.23 IDS on
SCO OpenServer 5.0.4.
My only question is why do you need the NT version as well. Is there
another way to solve this problem?
PS beware Y2K issues on Openserver 5. SCO are releasing a patch then
dropping support for version 5 below 5.0.2.

Hi Vic,
What sort of server spec do you have for your NT installation? I would be
interested to know what processors, memory and any other software you have
installed on the same server.
Thanks
