Depending on how you are logged in to NT, this can drastically affect your install. I've attempted to do an install across a network, just for grins and this is not recommended, especially with a Primary Domain Controller NT system. PDCs are not recommended anyway, but if your NT is part of a DOMAIN in the NT sense, it could cause problems. I believe the install is best on a WKStation, however maybe somebody got it working with Server. Part of the install will ask you about shared servers, always point to your own workstation till you get the install done. Are you logged in LOCAL to your machine or logged in as part of the domain you are on? Check the initial login you login as, and make sure you are LOCAL to your machine, and Administrator priveleges. Have you created an Informix-Admin group? Have you created an informix id? Have you had a beer?
