Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
Deba Mishra asked how to list the tables or databases in a dbspace. John Miller III suggested a query on sysmaster:systabnames filtering on the dbspace number from partnum. Keith Simmons recommended oncheck -pe. Richard Snoke gave an IDS 7.31 query joining systabnames, systabextents and syschktab to list tables by chunk, dbspace or device.

Hi
can anybody help me with regard to this.
How can i query for my DBSPACE to know which tables or databases it
contains.
is there any SQL query to run or any utility where i can get this
information.
Regards
Deba
There are many ways to do this but using
the dbaccess utility against the sysmaster database
and running the following query.
select * from sysmaster:systabnames
where TRUNC(partnum/"0xFFFFF")=1 -- DBSPACE Number

oncheck -pe will provide the information in an easily digested form

This works for IDS 7.31. I haven't adapted it for later releases. You
can adjust the predicate to get the tables in a chunk, a dbspace or a
whole device.
database sysmaster;select distinct a.tabname
from systabnames a,
systabextents b,
syschktab c
where a.partnum = b.te_partnum and
c.chknum = physchunk(b.te_physaddr) and
c.fname like "/dev/rdsk/disk-1"
;
