Once upon a time there were some shared memory C-ISAM ports and SE was built atop that, but I'm virtually certain that predates the current format of the sqlhosts file, so you can ignore it. > When I try to access a database I receive error 25588 "The appl process can > not connect to OnLine server linux" > > Obviously the SE thinks it is running OnLine. On Linux, you should either use seipcpip (avoids zombie problems) or sesoctcp (you have to run sqlexecd too, and expect to run into problems with zombies, possibly even if you use the nozombie program) You can find out about the zombie problem in news://www.informix.com/informix.idn.linux, and I also posted a note about it in comp.databases.informix recently.
