The difference is between: OLD: etc/install < etc/xyzfiles NEW: etc/install etc/xyzfiles This means that you can specify the licence number and key on standard input, rather than having to fudge /dev/tty somehow! This is a boon to automatic installation: ./installXYZ <<! ABC#D012345 ABCDEF ! That's the other really useful change I can immediately think of.
