Kenneth, we are also asking that same question. Although we never used 4GL we are looking for the "next step" from NewEra. My company is reluctant to invest in another Informix tool, but a total re-write using an un-familiar development environment is not appealing either. We have been playing with VB but the amount of coding necessary for our OLTP needs seems excessive without using a Data Director add in. The good side of VB is that it is popular and therefore finding the necessary skills is not as much of a problem as finding a "NewEra programmer" (as if there are any left ;-) ). Good luck on your search. There are some New Era programmers wondering if there are any New Era projects left... :-) <brian_fink@weavexx.com> wrote in message news:7ktas1$5d0$1@nnrp1.deja.com... > The good side of VB is that it is popular and therefore finding the > necessary skills is not as much of a problem as finding a "NewEra > programmer" (as if there are any left ;-) ). > > Good luck on your search. > > Brian > > In article <3771d613@kaos.fastnet.co.uk>, > "Kenneth Xu" <kennethxu@NOSPAM.163.net> wrote: > > Dear All, > > > > We migrated from 4gl to New Era one year ago, and you all know what > kind of > > situation we are facing. > > > > My question is what is next step we can go?
