Linux CentOS 5.3: Error 104 uninstalling informix
Posted in 2011
A user trying to uninstall IDS 11.5 on CentOS 5.3 got "The wizard cannot continue... could not load wizard specified in /wizard.inf (104)" from the InstallShield uninstaller. Suggestions: manually remove INFORMIXDIR (as root), plus shared libs and the /INFORMIXTMP directory; but the likely cause given was an unsupported Java (e.g. openjdk) in the PATH, so point the uninstaller at a supported JVM with -javahome, or use -Djavahome=none. The poster preferred the proper uninstaller and thanked the repliers, but no confirmation of success is recorded.

Hi to all, I want to uninstall Informix Server (11.5) form a Linux CentOS 5.3 server, but when executing the command I get these messages: Initializing InstallShield Wizard........ Launching InstallShield Wizard........ The wizard cannot continue because of the following error: could not load wizard specified in /wizard.inf (104) What does this mean? Is there another way for uninstalling Informix Server? Any help will be appreciated, Hernando.
yep. Just rm -r the files in the INFORMIXDIR directory. Be user root when you do this. You will also need to remove the .sl files as well if you want to. > To: ids@iiug.org > From: hduquec@hotmail.com > Subject: Linux CentOS 5.3: Error 104 uninstalling informix [24185] > Date: Wed, 29 Jun 2011 16:43:59 -0400 > > Hi to all, > > I want to uninstall Informix Server (11.5) form a Linux CentOS 5.3 server, but > when executing the command I get these messages: > > Initializing InstallShield Wizard........ > Launching InstallShield Wizard........ > > The wizard cannot continue because of the following error: could not load > wizard specified in /wizard.inf (104) > > What does this mean? Hernando, The error could be because you have an unsupported version of Java in your path, for example openjdk. So an alternative solution might be to ensure that you are using a supported version, either in your path or with the -javahome option. Stuart, thank you for posting. Hernando.
Andrew, thank you for posting. I'll feel more comfortable if I can uninstall the expected way with the uninstaller. I dont trust deleting myself manually all these files and directories, because it will be necesary future reinstalation and I think it will be risky if some remaining configuration file interferes with that. Hernando.
Hello, Hernando. I think you´d probably use the -javahome=none parameter, when calling the uninstaller program. (at least when I had some Java trouble with the installer one, I did it, and it worked just fine). Hope it helps. Best regards. Sorry, it must be: -Djavahome=none Regards.
