I have only recently (in the last 2 months) seen Informix mention shared libraries in their release notes - the are converting their libraries to shared libraries. Possible Informix have not considered the use of shared libraries before now. Check you have the environment variable LD_LIBRARY_PATH set correctly to the directory where your shared libraries exist. Check whether or not the path to your shared library have been hardcoded into the executable (run strings on the binary). and that the -Bdynamic has been passed to the C compile when linking your code (to allow the use of shared libraries). Finally run truss (or trace) on the binary and look for open system calls where it tries to open your library. Run nm on the binary and see what information you can get as well. If any one else has more information - please mail me - I've never got shared libraries to work properly - just got closer and closer and closer...... David.
