*** tbtape not dying in 5.05 ***

we have SUN Solaris 2000e with 10 nodes running IFMX 5.05. In a number of times we have had "tbtape" (at archive level 0 and Continous logging) hang! We tried the <CTRL C>, then the tbmode -z then soft kills and then kill -9. But it would not DIE. We even brought the database down. But No it would not die. We finally killed it with reboot!
