Marco, you didn't get the point: Many UNIX logins don't give the user shell access (and with that, the ability to execute DBACCESS) at all. They just dump the user into an application, and all database manipulations are controlled by the application. With the Informix/Intersolv ODBC drivers (and all others that are based on I-NET), this protection is void. Any user with access to a PC with the ODBC driver can use his UNIX login and password to directly manipulate the database. THIS IS A SECURITY NIGHTMARE! I will always prefer a server-based ODBC concept over the one that Informix sells. Now if only Openlink were available for my platform (SINIX)...
