Is there any way to tune buffwaits?

First of all, you have to look at your LRUs. Generally speaking, LRUS=4*NUMCPUVPS is sometimes too low. I think, you need 1 LRU pair per 500 buffers up to 128 possible. Also, remember that values like 64 or 96 degrades performance - don't set LRUs to this values. If increasing LRUs don't give you desirable effect - than you need to rewrite something in your application. For example- query A updates data,and locks the buffer in memory.If at the same time query B needs this buffer too - this time buffwaits increases.
