Texas Instruments Integrated IEF Tool to Support Informix Database Menlo Park, Calif. (October 6, 1993) Informix Software Inc., (NASDAQ:IFMX) and the Advanced Information Management (AIM) software division of Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) today announced a cooperative development and marketing agreement to integrate the Texas Instruments Information Engineering Facility (IEF) model-driven, application development tool with the INFORMIX-OnLine database server. The IEF and INFORMIX-OnLine integration is planned for release in limited beta on the Hewlett-Packard platform at the end of 1993, with general commercial availability planned for mid-year 1994. Additional platform support will follow later in 1994. IEF, a product incorporating client/server application development and assisting companies with their enterprise computing needs, combined with INFORMIX-OnLine, will provide customers optimum productivity and increased software application quality when creating powerful production business applications. "This agreement with TI represents a new opportunity to provide our mutual customer base with a powerful application development environment that takes advantage of our robust database technology," said Cheryl MacDonald, manager of Strategic Alliances and Acquisitions at Informix. "The support of TI's IEF product will further accelerate our rapidly growing presence in the enterprise-wide application arena. "TI recently announced IEF for Client/Server extending its integrated application development product to support design and generation of client/server application architectures. IEF for Client/Server together with INFORMIX-OnLine will provide customers with a model-driven approach for client/server applications that makes use of a high-performance database engine."
