No space left on device to create index
Posted in 2004
Topics: Storage & Space Management, Server Administration
Hi,
I failed to create an index on a table having about 300,000+ rows. The message
says 'no space left on device'. Using 'onstat -d', you can tell there're
plenty of space. Also, in the instance where the data was exported from
there's less space in each individual dbspace than in the target instance
where the index could not be created. The data is identical in the two
instances.
Your help is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Lixin Wu

Lixin-
Check your environment (.profile and onconfig); the database may
be trying to build the index in /tmp instead of your tmpdbs.
