Does the ibcs2 module support shared memory? I am trying to run Informix OnLine 7.1 (SCO) on Linux 1.2.13 - see the results posted in linux.dev.ibcs2 and comp.os.linux.development.apps (You might have to give it a couple of days to reach you) Basically, my installation works via shared memory (only; it fails to connect over TCP/IP sockets or TLI - what is not relevant in your case, as those were introduced in Informix 6). I too had a shmget error - in my case when at the end of the creation/initialization the script that builds the sysmaster database in the root dbspace fails. I checked (see the post) and decided it failed due to secondary checks the script makes. Then I re-run the SQL commands from the script omitting the checks and redirecting output to a file, which I then checked manually - in fact the sysmaster builds correctly. That was it, as the sysmaster needs to be created only once. My installation began to work since. Also, check all the evnironment variables, ownerships and file permissions as instructed in the Informix manual, as informix gives you somewhat unexpected errors if those are not set correctly. Michael P.S. My Slackware 3.0 came with an old iBCS module; I compiled the new one (needed some fiddling on 1.2.13), but it seems my results did not really depend on that. (New iBCS may provide more features with newer kernels, I hear)
