Re: Informix Online for Netware Database Server Version 4.1

You have posted this three times now, and apperantly have got no answer (I can see non in the newsgroup at least). I can appreciate your desperate situation having a product that has been abandoned by Informix. They did that for good reasons (Novell was never a good platform for a database), but that doesn't help you of course. All I can say is that I wouldn't expect all the old software you have to work on new platforms (Windows 95). I assume you ones had a working environement (using Windows 3.x??). As hard as it may sound you may have to go back to that setup. For a long term solution you should definitely go to Unix on the server. Then you could run your 4GL application on that server with terminal emulators on Windows 95. This may possibly be to expensive for you even using SCO Unix on a PC. If that is the case you may have to wait for the Linux port that we trying to push Informix into doing. There is an option for Linux right now as well by running the SCO version of Informix SE. As far as I know you will have to get access to an SCO machine to compile your 4GL code, but it will run on Linux. This setup will with all probability give you as good performance as you now have on Novell. If going to a Unix server isn't something for you, you should expect to continue having eternal problems with non supported and very old software. Sorry, but that's the way the world is moving. cmc@codetel.net.do ("Ing.
