The last semaphore look > like the application itself is using semaphores outside of Informix. I think that it is most probably OnLine 5.0x or 4.0x - only one Informix OnLine shared memory segment. The last three semaphore sets could belong to SCO Open Desktop Window environment (I forget exact name of these strange windows) > > Try increasing the number of semaphores in the kernel parameters... > Use ipcs -sa to get number of semaphores in sets. Check USERS in tbconfig file - in OnLine 5.0x each configured user including internal OnLine processes tbinit, tbpgcl, tbundo has one semaphore. Check SEMMSL kernel parameter -maximum number of semaphores in set. I suppose that SEMMSL is set too low. But - your instance works, just a little bit more work for kernel with semaphore sets.
