Thanx in advance... > Mike, a couple of basic things to check: - Check your Informix installation, is the user informix and the group informix set up? are the Informix binaries owned by user and group informix, ( except for a few key ones owned by root ). The files in $INFORMIXDIR/etc/ that match *files are text files used by the Informix installation and show the premissions and ownership of each product installed. - If you are using online, is the dbspace device owned by user and group informix? The device premissions should be read/write for owner and group. - If you are using SE, do the database directory and the files (*.dat and *.idx) belong to group informix? They should be belong to the user who created the database/table and the group informix.The directory permissions should be read/write/excute for owner and group and the files read/write for owner and group. - By default, once everything is installed with the correct file owneship, database and views are created with no public privileges but tables are created with select,insert, update and delete granted to public. If you grant connect to public, everyone should have select, update, insert anddelete privileges. - In ISQL do "select * from sysusers" - this will show all the users who have been granted database privileges. - In ISQL do "select tabname, systabauth.* from systabauth, systables where systabauth.tabid = systables.tabid". This will show all privilegs that have been granted. Please let me know if you need more help. I will be sending out an update to my privileges.ace program which shows all users and there database/table privilegs this weekend. You might find it helpful in displaying your privileges.
