CURRENT not being SELECTED

I have written a program which loads a CURRENT into a table along with a few other fields. Now, I can retrieve the whole row using a select in sql, an ace report and in a perform. But using 4gl it retrieves all fields except the DATETIME CURRENT field, which is blank. Does anyone know what causes this? Plus, how can I format a DATETIME field.
