HI,
I have install informix on /opt/informix and installed r4gl on /opt/r4gl7.32
when i execute command r4gl it's working but when i trying to select
Query-language it saying " 4467: The SQL Query Language is unavailable. See
Help for more information" and also i canot compile 4gls
my env as follow for r4gl user
INFORMIXDIR=/opt/r4gl7.32
PATH=$PATH:$INFORMIXDIR/bin
ONCONFIG=/opt/informix/etc/onconfig
INFORMIXSQLHOST=/opt/informix/etc/sqlhosts
INFORMIXSERVER=lnx_prim_serverTERMCAP=$INFORMIXDIR/etc/termcap
DBDATE=dmy4/
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$INFORMIXDIR/lib:$INFORMIXDIR/lib/esql:$INFORMIXDIR/lib/toolss;
all are exported
is there any thing to do to solve this
thanks
pushpa
Hi Pushpa.
Environment variable INFORMIXDIR refers to where IDS is allocate, then R4GL is
looking for SQL executable in /opt/r4gl7.32.
You can try this values to your environmnet variables:
INFORMIXDIR=/opt/informix
PATH=$PATH:$INFORMIXDIR/bin:/opt/r4gl7.32
Greetings.

The Query Language option in r4gl looks for either isql (if it is
available) or dbaccess and gives the error if neither is found.
To prevent the error, make sure that DB-Access is found. Since you have
your server installed separately, create yourself an executable shell
script called dbaccess in the I4GL-RDS $INFORMIXDIR/bin directory, roughly
like this:
export INFORMIXDIR=/path/to/informix/server
exec $INFORMIXDIR/bin/dbaccess "$@"
This will invoke the server's DB-Access with the environment set correctly
to find the message and menu files. You can set more environment variables
and add comments, etc, but this is the best way I know of to deal with
'I4GL is not installed in the Informix server $INFORMIXDIR but needs stuff
from the server'. You can use the general technique to make commands such
as onstat available to the I4GL environment, if you need to do it. Also,
DB-Export, DB-Import, DB-Schema, DB-Load, ...
I note that you have a typo in your script; the environment variable is
INFORMIXSQLHOSTS (plural, not singular).
Also, $ONCONFIG is always treated as a name relative to $INFORMIXDIR/etc
(the file used is $INFORMIXDIR/etc/$ONCONFIG, if you like); your setting is
largely ignored, which is fine since no programs in I4GL need the
environment variable.
