Slow screen redraws with VT220/FTP

Dear all, I have a client running Windows FTP PC/TCP ver 4.0 across VINES on some sites, Novell 3.11/4.11 on others. The application is a standard Informix-4GL with forms and menus and stuff, and drawing of border characters takes forever. Other screen displays (i.e. text) are fine. The machines vary from 486/33 DX to Pentiums with 8+MB RAM. The Pentium runs fine, but I don't really want to tell my client he has to run 16MB Petiums just to do terminal emulation!
