RDS vs c-compiler

I'm writing documentation of the advantages of using 4GL c-compiler over RDS and need to put in as much proof as possible. Does anybody have some thoughts I can use ? Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.

Similarly SQL statements are virtually unaffected by which version of 4GL you use since it is the engine, not the 4GL, which executes it. Certain 4GL built-in's, like LOAD/UNLOAD, are also unaffected since they are implemented in fglgo in R4GL. Same for user created functions in "C". So what is the difference? Calculations and report generation. The calculations in C4GL are native "C" while in R4GL they must use library functions (DECIMAL and DATETIME type excepted since they use library function regardless). Report functions are also MUCH faster in C4GL due to the extensive string testing usually involved. Interactive applications, ie data entry forms, are virtually the same using either version. Utilities and reports will be 15-25% faster in C4GL in general with very complex reports and very calculation intensive modules being up to 2x faster in C4GL (and you can get a transferrable 15-25% additional boost by recoding these modules in "C" in which case they will run faster either in C4GL or R4GL linked into the runner). 1- Large programs will load much faster in 4GL, RDS does a lot of things at the time of program loading which 4gl does during compilation , normally you execute programs more often the compile them , so longer complation wins against slower starts ..... 2 - I prefer the way you can link C stuff in 4GL instead of recompiling the runner .... 3 - Uses less memory in situations where the same program is executed by large # of users . Ex : ERP system having 50-100 order entry people , you can save 200+ MB of RAM depending the memory requirment of the application . 4 - Related to point 1 RDS doing a lot things that c4gl does during compilation would consume more CPU resources every time the app is started so in a system with lots of users going in / out of programs your CPU usage will be higher .... I never made a real study on this one however ........ 5 - There also pluses to RDS but you did not ask for them , My guideline is basically small systems RDS , large systems 4GL , devlopment systems both .
