Are DB Partitions in Informix 7 managed by own DB Servers

While we are awaiting delivery of Informix 7 and its documentation, could anyone tell me if separate db partitions are managed by different db server instances? If you can share your experiences of configuring db partitions with XA-compliant resource managers in a Tuxedo environment then even better! TIA Leo Tsesmelis
