Hi There, I'm taking a look at SDS to offload reporting from an OLTP server to another IDS server. Details on environment, hardware, etc are: * IDS 11.10.FC2 for both * AIX 5.3 TL8 SP1 for both * SAN DS4800 for both * OLTP host: p570 Power 5 * Reporting host: p650 Power 4. At the moment, each host has their own set of LUNs on our SAN. After reading up on SDS, shared disk(s) is the essential requirement for SDS. If my research is correct, IBM's GPFS (General Parallel File System) would be required, and installled on each host, for SDS to exist on the environment detailed above. Is this correct? Thanks in advance for your time, effort and expertise.
Three quick comments: -Yes SDS nodes required shared disks, RSS nodes do not required shared= disks. -A shared file system is required, but it is not limited to GPFS -If you upgrade to 11.50 all nodes can have write access enabled and committed read. Yes, but you could also set up the secondary as an RSS server which would not require sharing the disks.
