Use of check-constraint in front-end

Hi, My intention is to use the definition of a check-constraint for a single column at the front-end level. This eliminates the need for having certain checks defined as a check-constraint as well as a check-function in for instance NewEra. So is there anybody that has something for, or knows how I can make use of the definition of an existing check-constraint for the front-end part. My own idea is to consult the Informix db-catalog (syschecks & sysconstraints), read the check-constraint info and do 'something' with it. This something might be to translate the check-constraint definition into NewEra actions. What I am after is how to achieve this. If this something is available as a NewEra class this would be very fine, but another way will do as well. Please let me know...
