share libraries (again!)

The world has evolved since mkshlib (which isn't even available on all Unix systems) to provide better nomenclature. Start thinking *dynamic* library. Particularly if you ever get into Windows (and other GUI) programming. Those are called .DLL's. (Hence, DYNAMIC link LIBRARY).
