RES: Pentium 4 hyperthreading
Posted in 2004
Speaking on Affinity Processors, does anyone know if the IDS 9.40 has support for this feature on Linux? AFAIK IDS 7.31 doesn't. I'm using NUMCPUVPS=4 with 2 XEON Processors and it work fantastic. If I configure a single cpu environment my systems loses performances. The Hyperthreading features are available since RH 8.0, I think. That's the system I use and it also treat each physical processor as 2 (1 for input and 1 for output). -----Mensagem original----- De: owner-informix-list@iiug.org [mailto:owner-informix-list@iiug.org] Em nome de Andrew Hamm Enviada em: segunda-feira, 2 de fevereiro de 2004 20:33 Para: informix-list@iiug.org Assunto: Re: Pentium 4 hyperthreading Ronald Cole wrote: > > The hyperthreading-friendly scheduler is supposed to be in the 2.6 > kernel. Red Hat might have backported it to the 2.4 kernel in RHL9 or > RHEL3, but I haven't checked. I haven't read anything about these new-fangled processors. From what you are implying, it sounds like it's really a 1.8 or 1.5 processor chip? How is the "2nd" processor restricted? This chip might be a specific case where "processor zero" must be reserved for hardware and O/S duties by setting the AFF_ parameters properly. --- Incoming mail is certified Virus Free.
