On the client end all you need is a WEB browser such as Netscape or a free one like Mosaic. No major licensing issue here the whole point of the web is that the clients are thin and cheap. Informix has a deal with Netscape to bundle Netscape WEB Server software with thier Online database. Then you just need to create some cgi scripts and form based documents and hey presto you are publishing database information on the web. Most of the others are doing something similar or developing thier own servers.
