Oracle coexisting with Informix

We have a payroll support system that runs on Informix 7.2.4. It's running on its own older server now, a SUN 1000E. We are also running a heavier use Oracle Financials server on a SUN 4500. We can't seem to find anyone at Sun, Informix, or SUN who would give us any guidance as to whether they could be combined onto the 4500, assuming we added enough CPU's, I/O, and power. Has anyone run both of these systems on a single server in a production environment? Thanks, Ray

Thanks, Ray We do run both databases on a single machine, but then again we do not make heavy use of the databases. Have you considered moving your payroll application to Oracle? This may sort your problem and save you on cost of keeping 2 databases. If your payroll applications are written in 4GL we can help you out. -- Compliments of QueriX -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- QueriX 4GL Compilers are Informix 4GL Compatible. Some features are: True Windows GUI Clients. ActiveX support. HTML Report Generation. More rigorous error handling. Connection to other RDBMS such as Oracle. Connection to all versions of Informix 4GL with no need to change compiler. If I remember correctly, Oracle can only have one database running per server instance and I don't think you can have multple instances per server. Informix can create multiple databases on an instance and multiple instances per server. Wouldn't it be easier to convert the other application to use an Informix database?
