Here are some general questions related to this error: Can you ping and telnet to the AIX box from the Win95 box? Can you ping the Win95 box from the AIX box? If the AIX is running SE, did you start the sqlexecd daemon? If the AIX is running IDS, did you put the name of a networked connection from your sqlhosts file in the onconfig file as either the DBSERVERNAME, or a DBSERVERALIAS? Does the AIX machine have more than one network card? If so, is the host name listed in setnet on the Win95 box the same host name as the engine is listening on? Older versions of setnet (like 7.20.Txx) could corrput the sqlhosts registry entries when you made many changes to them. On the environment tab, save to a file, and then look at them in a text editor and see if they still match what you entered. Rob Z.
