DBTEMP

I am trying to understand the environment variable DBTEMP better. I am using DBSPACETEMP in my onconfig, but the DBA who created the system I work on, also included DBTEMP in the user .profile I want to know what exactly gets written to the DBTEMP directory. I found the following info: DBTEMP (IDS) The DBTEMP environment variable is used by DB-Access and IBM Informix Enterprise Gateway products as well as by Dynamic Server and by earlier database servers. DBTEMP resembles DBSPACETEMP, specifying the directory in which to place temporary files and temporary tables. I assume my database sorting will take place in the temp dbspaces (DBSPACETEMP) - what is DBTEMP use for then ? sending to informix-list
