We are currently using DBE 1.3, SunOS 4.1.3, and Informix On-line. The DBE product impoves virtual memory, improves aysnchronous I/O, and increases the number of file descriptors. The asynchronous I/O enhancements reduce CPU overhead for asynchronous disk I/O for raw partitions. The number of open file descriptors is increased from 256 to 2048. The kernel is rebuilt after DBE is installed. We have not had any problems. We have installed DBE on a couple of Sun 4/470 systems.
