Hello all, Does anyone know if you can use a sql statement to get the version of the informix server that is running? Is it stored in a system table somewhere? I cannot locate it. Thanks in advance. David Tamburin david.tamburin@protegrity.com

You can try:
SELECT owner FROM sysmaster:systables WHERE tabid = 99;
This should work as the owner of table 99 (tabname: " VERSION")
contains the version (minus the platform letter: U, T, F) that created
the database and the creator of the SYSMASTER database is always the
current version.

Hi
select owner from systables
where tabname = " VERSION"
The select looks like that you need, but I'm not sure which version you will
have. An server that created your database or current server.

Hello
Do you really need to execute an SQL statement ???
If you have dbaccess/isql installed, you could just execute the command
'dbaccess -v' or 'isql -v'. This will show you the IDS version.
