Re: The group option in Select

In Informix 1.10 products, NULL <> NULL in any area of the database, including GROUP BY statements. In the new, buggier-than-hell release (4.0), the GROUP BY statement has been changed to allow NULL values to be equal to each other. Although this is a step in the right direction, I would like to see the GROUP BY statement be allowed to specify only some of the fields in the field list, instead of requiring every field to be on there. As an aside, isn't it kind of silly to make a statement where every non-aggregate column MUST be lists and every aggregate column must NOT be listed? Why even bother with a list?
