As another aside, the correlated subquery can actually cause the database
to run out of log space! The looping solution is the best I have found. To
improve performance even further in a logging database, COMMIT work in
chunks of 10 - 200 transactions. You will need to experiment with
different levels of commit to find the best for your application/database.
