We run a network of Suns of various sizes, SPARCstation 1 thru 4-processor 690, under OS 4.1.3. We run Oracle 6.0.32 and are converting to Oracle 7.X. Our Informix is quite old, 2.10.03, since we are phasing it out, against my recommendations. Although we don't have both Oracle and Informix *servers* on the same box, we have several instances with one DB's server and the other DB's client on the same computer. I have done several data transfers between the products, mostly thru intermediate files, but we did have one short-lived project that had programs connect to both DBMSs, tho' it was in sequence, not simultaneously. All that being said, I have *never* encountered any problems by having both DBMS products in the same computer.
