Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.

Help!
We are using ESQL/C and are getting an SQL error code of -258. The
manual doesn't give much of an explaination and I was wondering if anyone
out there could help. I don't know a whole lot about informix so bare with
me.
We have something like this...
main(argc, argv)
int argc;
char **argv;
{
pid_t pid;
$ int my_com_id;
$DATABASE "mydata";
$SELECT com_id INTO $my_com_id FROM complex WHERE com_id = 1;
$CLOSE DATABASE;
sqlexit();
if((pid = fork()) < 0) {
printf("Error trying to fork\\n");
}
if (pid == 0) {
$DATABASE "mydata";
$SELECT com_id INTO $my_com_id FROM complex WHERE com_id = 1;
/* getting a -258 error */
exit (0);
}
if (pid > 0) {
$DATABASE "mydata";
$SELECT com_id INTO $my_com_id FROM complex WHERE com_id = 1;
/* getting a -258 error */
}
exit(0);
}
Now of course this little sample works but when we get this into our
big complicated program it bombs. Sometimes when we reconnect we are doing
deletes instead of selects but we get the same error (-258)
I guess I would like to know if the above is correct.
If so then I can start looking else where for the problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
