Update Stats Error SQLCODE = -312, ISAM = -143

We have implemented the dostats script to take care of Update Statistics. We have encounter intermittent failures involving same table. We have excluded the table and statistics have executed successfully for 5 consecutive weeks. The error code we are receiving is (SQLCODE = -312, ISAM = -143). Which means a locking issue is occurring. (Have not quite figured out where the locking is) Has anyone encountered this type of issue? NOTE: We are separating the update stats start times for our instances.
