how can I lock with ODBC ?

Hello, I try to lock rows in a table using a "select for update" statement. When I execute the select statement and the update statement and start parallel a second process doing the same I get no error message. If I execute the select for update within a ESQL/C programm and start a second process I get a message that the row is locked. I'm using Informix CLI 2.5 (from the Online Workstation 7.20 for Windows NT) under Windows NT 4.0. The server is an Informix OnLine 7.10 on a SCO Unix machine. I use the connect option SQL_ODBC_CURSOR = SQL_CUR_USE_DRIVER and the statement options SQL_CONCURRENCY = SQL_CONCUR_LOCK and SQL_CURSOR_TYPE = SQL_CURSOR_KEYSET_DRIVEN. Thanks for any idea to solve this problem or clearing up my misunderstanding of locking with ODBC.
