Shared Memory Problems

This is my first time posting in Comp.databases.informix, worse yet this is my first month of Unix/Informix experience! How did I find myself as a system administrator anyway? In any case I have been trying to set up Informix on a new machine. I just barely figured out the Unix install and cfg and now I am trying to get Informix to work. This is my setup: ALR POWERPRO 486/50 EISA 3 CONNOR 530M HARD DRIVES 1776 STRIPING SOFTWARE SCO UNIX 3.2.4 W/ODT 2.0 INFORMIX ONLINE V5.0 My problem is that when I try to initialize shared memory over 512K I get this error tbinit: shmat [EINVAL][22]: shared memory base address illegal using 0x80480000, needs 0x800000 tbinit: fatal error in shared memory creation I have called informix support and they sent me instructions about how to modify /etc/conf/cf.d/mtune under shared memory setup but after relinking the kernel I still get the same problem. From what I can tell this is somewhat a machine specific problem. (it would have to be my machine!) Has anyone out there in netland ever come across this type of problem while trying to boost shared memory past 512K? Any help would greatly be appreciated! Thanks, Steve Eldredge $stevee@sasb.byu.edu
