Hi,
in general this is configurable in the kernel. Maximum possible
configuration may also depend on Solaris version, but I don't know.
The kernel parameter may be something like
shminfo_shmseg
but I'm not 100% sure.
Regards,
Martin

There are various issues here. One is what the system is configured to
permit - which can be found in /etc/system on Solaris (at least 8 and
before; I assume 9 and above too).
The other is what IDS is coded to permit. In IDS 10.00, we added the
'Shared memory segments bigger than 4GB' feature for 64-bit machines, so
I assume that older versions (such as 7.31) only permit you to have
shared memory segments up to 4GB and not bigger. You should be able to
get to 20 GB, but it will require 5 segments of 4GB each, assuming your
kernel is configured to permit such large segments.
