VB+Informix

-> I've asked this question several times in several different ways, but either -> my message isn't getting out, or I'm getting ignored :). ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ We're nice people - we don't ignore questions unless we really have to!:) -> Are ODBC drivers available for Informix? Specifically, I need to write a -> Windows client to an Informix 7.1 online system. Who makes these drivers? Is Yes. Intersolv, Technosis (?), Q+E and Informix (to the best of my knowledge) have ODBC drivers. -> using Informix with VB any different than any other ODBC database? I don't think so. -> Is there any advantage whatsoever to using New Era instead of VB for client -> access? Yes. Informix make a lot more money! :) (Just kidding, folks!) VB is basically a sort-of procedural sort-of GUI quick and dirty app tool. New Era is (allegedly!) a full OO development tool which has all the class libraries and such like. I am given to understand that VB can't really handle big apps (whatever they are) and NE is a lot more involved. VB is probably more stable, but if you're looking at a major development, NE is worth investigating. HTH, billy.wheeler@digitec.co.za ---- Digitec Online - South Africa Telnet: bbs.digitec.co.za
